    Labs Should:

    Before June 23rd:

      • Include shutting down any computers or servers in the lab.
    • Communicate the plan to your lab members so everyone on the same page for this.
    • For ultra-low freezers, clear out the frost from the door seals.

On June 23rd, after power is restored:

    • Physically turn on any computers or servers in the lab.

    Facilities Will:

    • Turn off/on growth chambers, cold rooms, -80 freezers, incubators and most everything else in the basement and some select items on other floors (RO and DI).

    Lab Fridges/Freezers:

    • If the lab fridge/freezer is plugged in, it will shut down when they cut the power, and it will automatically come back on when power is restored.
    • A new, full, -80 will retain critical temp for up to 36 hours, as long as the seals are kept free of frost build up and the door is kept shut.
      • Source: one of the largest distributors of ultra-low freezers in the Midwest.
