Which Vehicles Can Be Stored in a Bicycle Rack?
Bicycle racks may be used by bicycles, electric bicycles, motor bicycles, electric scooters (E-scooters), electric personal assistive mobility devices (EPAMDs), bicycle trailers, and play vehicles that are not capable of speeds of more than 20 mph.
Mopeds and motorcycles are not permitted in bicycle racks and generally require parking permits.
Tips from the UW Police on Keeping Your Bicycles and Scooters Secure
Thefts are not the fault of the victim. Here are some safety tips to consider to potentially prevent similar crimes from occurring in the future:
- Consider purchasing an anti-theft device or a lock for your bike or scooter. UWPD recommends a quality ‘U-style’ lock. Chain and cable locks are easily cut in seconds by someone with the right tool.
- Consider parking in a garage or other secure area
- Park in visible, well-lit areas
- Record serial numbers and take photos of your expensive items like mopeds, bicycles, cameras, laptops, etc.
